HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY CENTER
Definition of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is an intervention in which an individual breathes near 100% oxygen intermittently with mask while inside a hyperbaric chamber that is pressurized to greater than sea level pressure (1 atmosphere absolute-ATA).
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy began to be used in 1980’s in our country and became prevalent in the last 20 years. Due to the expansion of the HBOT indications, it has become necessary to build modern hyperbaric centers.
The only hyperbaric chamber operating in the public sector in İzmir, is located in the Bozyaka Education and Research Hospital. In this multiplace hyperbaric chamber can be treated twelve patients at the same time. Our HBOT center is in the advanced hospital that is important for safety and high quality healthcare.
HBOT unit of our hospital has the latest technology and safety systems. Physicians supervising HBOT should be specialist in Undersea and Hyperbarıc Medicine. HBOT center team members are trainedand practised in hyperbaric fields.
